The function
A float switch ensures precise control of the water level in your water system. It protects your pump from running dry or prevents your cistern or water tank from running empty. This is important in rainwater utilisation systems, for example, in order to make optimum use of the collected rainwater.
In general, these switches are ideal for use in waste water, service water and tap water systems. Float switches are equally suitable for submersible pumps or freely installed suction pumps. They are designed for continuous use under water.

Float switch for dry-running protection
The red float switch is used to switch off the pump if the water level in the water storage tank or cistern is insufficient. For attachment to the inlet pipe of the cistern or to the submersible pump. When the storage tank is sufficiently full again and the minimum fill level is reached, e.g. after a rain event, the pump is reactivated for operation by the float switch.

The yellow float switch is suitable for controlling a mains water make-up system. For attachment to the inlet pipe in the cistern or to the underwater pump. The switch lever defines the switch-on and switch-off point so that the water level rises by 9 cm (daily requirement of a detached house).

Nachspeisung von Wasser
Ein wichtiger Einsatzbereich ist die Nachspeisung von Leitungswasser. Der Schwimmerschalter schaltet um, wenn der Wasserstand unter eine definierte Mindesthöhe fällt und aktiviert ein Magnetventil, das Leitungswasser in die Zisterne oder einen Zwischenbehälter nachlaufen lässt. Dies garantiert das zu jeder Zeit ein Wasservorrat in der Zisterne vorhanden ist und verhindert Ausfälle durch Wassermangel. So sorgt die Nachspeisung dafür, dass immer ausreichend Wasser in der Zisterne zur Verfügung steht, auch wenn es nur wenig geregnet hat.
Water replenishment
An important area of application is the replenishment of tap water. The float switch switches over when the water level falls below a defined minimum level and activates a solenoid valve that feeds tap water into the cistern or an intermediate tank. This guarantees that there is a supply of water in the cistern at all times and prevents failures due to a lack of water. The top-up system ensures that there is always sufficient water available in the cistern, even if it has only rained a little.
The yellow float switch from WISY is perfect for controlling a solenoid valve or the WISY drinking water make-up system. It is very easy to attach, either to the inlet pipe or to the underwater pump. The switch lever is used to define the switch-on and switch-off point so that the water level rises by 9 cm - this corresponds to the daily requirement of a detached house.
The float switch consists of a mirror-welded polypropylene float housing, a stainless steel switch lever and a mounting clamp, optionally suitable for various pipe diameters. Equipped with a flexible connection cable (3 x 1 mm²) in 3m, 10m or 20m length. It is easiest to control the make-up water solenoid valve using an adapter plug. The float switch then switches the socket of the intermediate plug on or off. The connecting cable for the make-up solenoid valve is plugged into this socket.

WISY float switches are easy to care for and require only minimal maintenance. An occasional check and cleaning promotes reliable operation. In particular, the float must be able to move freely, cables and hoses should be firmly attached and run outside the float's radius of movement. Float switches for waste water systems must be checked a little more frequently to ensure that they continue to function correctly.
