House of the German Business association
Use of 2x WFF 300 vortex fine filter
Object data
Berlin, Germany | 2000
The leading associations of German business, the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA), have moved into a domicile on Mühlendamm in Berlin Mitte. 570 staff are employed here. The building owner has invested in rainwater retention and rainwater utilisation and thus acted on its own initiative in an exemplary water management manner.
The collected precipitation is used all year round in the building for toilet flushing in the non-public area. It is also used to ensure the fire extinguishing supply for the sprinkler system. In the first 21 months, the rainwater was able to cover 54 % of the required volume of 170 m³, 46 % was supplemented by mains water when the rainwater storage tank was empty. The collected precipitation could be used almost completely. The small amount of storage overflow goes directly into the river Spree.
