Taipei Municipal Zoo
Use of the filter collector FS
Object data
Taipei, Taiwan | 2000
The success was quickly visible: 25% savings in the zoo's mains water demand were achieved through rainwater harvesting in the first years of operation, and another 5% through economical use at the tapping points. Children visiting the zoo find many pictorial representations on information boards of how rainwater can be used by them as visitors. They are allowed to fill buckets with hand pumps and go to the keepers with them or water plants.
Frank Fu, one of the initiators of the cistern technology, decided on the FS filter collectors from WISY AG when it came to retrofitting the downpipes of the buildings with low-maintenance and operationally reliable filters. In most cases, bypass pipes were installed. In the monsoon season, this ensures the safe drainage of large water masses. During normal rainfall, the WISY filter collector ensures a yield of well over 90%, while dirt particles are automatically flushed into the sewer.
