When water is used in industrial processes, it often becomes mixed with solids. The solids are later filtered out of the water either as part of the process, or for the purpose of conserving valuable resources. For applications of this kind, efficient filtering is absolutely crucial. The filtering systems deployed also need to have a long service life in order to prevent unnecessary production outages.
Our industrial filters called Vortex Stainless are made entirely of stainless steel. Due to the unique arrangement of the filter mesh, they can be operated continuously without the need to interrupt the process cyclically. They are designed for unpressurized flowing water or comparable media.
The filter is designed such that it does not restrict the particle flow in any way, i.e. there is no risk of blockage or backflow.
The solid particles drop down through the filter, while the filtrate passes through the cylindrical filter screen at the side. A small quantity of fluid is discharged with the particles and flushes them away.
The filter unit works by utilizing the flow of water and does not require any energy input.
The filter is designed for a flow velocity of up to 1.6 m/s. The nominal flow rate is 13 liters per second, resulting in 90% filtered water and 10% rinse water. The rinse water is used for continuous removal of solids. The maximum flow rate is 80.6 liters per second. Here, a filtration rate of about 50% is achieved. Further values result from the following diagram:
The housing of the Vortex 300 Stainless consists of an upper part and a lower part. This allows the direction between inlet and outlet to be varied. Flange connections according to DIN are provided for the pipe connection.
The housing and filter insert are made of V2A stainless steel as standard. For harsh conditions, increased corrosion resistance is possible by using V4A.
The cover is made of the same stainless steel as the case. It is optionally waterproof up to a pressure of 1.5 or 6 bar. The 6-bar version of the Vortex 300 Stainless can be operated with one hand thanks to the integrated gas struts.
The stainless steel filter insert has a mesh size of 0.38µm as standard. Larger particles are flushed down to the outlet by the residual water. Finer mesh sizes from 180µm are available.
For particularly rough applications with abrasive solids, the filter insert can be coated with titanium nitride. This additionally increases the material strength.
